Biographical Information[edit]

Oona Ylinen pitched for the Guildford Gold Cats, a men's team in Britain, going 0-2 between two levels in 2022. [1] When the British women's national team was formed for the 2022 European Women's Championship, she was their lone southpaw hurler. She debuted in their first game, relieving Kirstie Wright in the 4th with a 22-9 lead over Czechia, the bases loaded and no outs. She struck out Petra Kolkusová, then Kateřina Marková hit a run-scoring grounder and Vendula Kolkusová struck out. In the 5th, she retired Kateřina Popelková and Karolína Blažková before allowing her first baserunners as Tereza Kudláčková and Kristýna El Ghannam walked. She struck out Tereza Stejspalová to end the game due to the mercy rule and got the decision in the first win for the British team. Her second outing, she took over for Wright with a 12-7 lead over defending champion France with two on and no outs; the winner would go on to the title game. This outing did not go as well as her first. She walked Marjorie Brunel (a wild pitch scoring a run) then hit Yasmine Derbal and Léna Sellam's sac fly cut it to 12-9. She walked Léonie Pauthe to load the bases. Dora Lau relieved and let all three inherited runners score as France rallied to win. She tied Pauthe, Lau and Coralie Guillemin for 7th in strikeouts and tied for second in games pitched (2, one behind Cassandra Vigneau). [2]
