Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Kable Hogben played four years in the Arizona Diamondbacks organization.
Signed by Arizona Diamondbacks John Wadsworth for a $65,000 bonus in 2007, Hogben tossed 1 1/3 shutout innings in the Claxton Shield in 2008. In 2009, he allowed one run in two innings for the Victoria Aces. He made his US debut with the Missoula Osprey in 2009, going 1-1 with a 5.17 ERA. With the Yakima Bears in 2010, he was drastically better. He posted an 0.72 ERA and .137 opponent average in 28 relief outings and was second in the Northwest League with 10 saves (5 behind A.J. Griffin). He led the league in lowest ERA and opponent average. Griffin beat him out as the All-Star right-handed relief pitcher.
After splitting the next season between Yakima (1-0, Sv, 6 H, 27 K in 17 IP) and the South Bend Silver Hawks (2 Sv, 2.84, 34 K in 31 2/3 IP), he represented Australia in the 2011 Baseball World Cup. He fared poorly, with 7 walks, 7 hits and 7 runs (5 earned) in 5 2/3 IP. He allowed 3 runs in 3 innings in relief of Clayton Tanner in an Aussie loss to South Korea. In his second game, he relieved Dushan Ruzic with a 8-1 lead in the bottom of the 8th against the Dominican national team. He walked Bernie Castro, struck out Alexis Gómez and walked Víctor Méndez. Willis Otáñez hit into a Scott Wearne error, Dionys César doubled and Juan Richardson had a sacrifice fly to cut it to 8-4. Hogben then walked Freddy Guzmán before Brendan Wise relieved to end the jam. Kable still got the call in the 5th/6th place game against South Korea, relieving Paul Mildren and allowing one run in two innings to pick up the win in a 3-2 game; he was replaced by Justin Erasmus.
Back with South Bend in 2012, he was 4-3 with two saves a 3.93 ERA in 41 appearances. Prior to the 2013 season, he was released.
