Biographical Information[edit]

Third baseman Juan Richardson spent 15 years in professional baseball, playing from 1999 to 2013. Going into each season from 2002 to 2005, he was ranked a top prospect in the Phillies chain by Baseball America, peaking at number 9 in 2004. He reached Triple-A only briefly, playing 26 games and hitting .237/.333/.419 in the Mexican League in 2012.

He began his career in the Philadelphia Phillies system and remained there through 2005. In 2001, with the Lakewood BlueClaws, he hit a career-high 22 home runs with 83 RBI in 137 games. He then hit 18, 15, 9 and 15 home runs the next four seasons, respectively, before moving to the St. Louis Cardinals system and batting .311/.382/.500 with 17 home runs, 78 RBI and 31 doubles for the Springfield Cardinals in 2006. In 2007, he hit 18 dingers and the next year—now in the Kansas City Royals chain—he slugged 16. But by that point, he was a 29-year-old in Double-A, so he was cut loose. He joined the independent American Association in 2009 and remained there for the rest of his career, save for his brief stay in the Mexican League. After playing sparingly in 2009, he hit .313/.408/.488 with 14 home runs and 63 RBI for the Lincoln Saltdogs in 2010. He had a career year in 2011, hitting .360/.452/.550 with 12 home runs, 86 RBI and 140 hits in 98 games for the Wichita Wingnuts. He rattled off two more solid years in 2012 and 2013, but played just 69 games between them to wrap up his career.

In the affiliated minor leagues and Mexican League, Richardson hit .265/.337/.442 with 138 home runs and 558 RBI in 987 games over 10 seasons. In indy ball, he hit .329/.425/.493 with 32 home runs and 187 RBI in 260 games over 5 seasons. Including available winter league statistics, he hit 190 home runs in his career.

He played for the Dominican national team in the 2011 Baseball World Cup and the 2011 Pan American Games.
