Biographical Information

Jimmy Bermúdez made his Nicaraguan national team debut at age 38.

In 2004, he got into his first game in Nicaragua's top amateur league, going 2-0 with a 1.35 ERA that season for San Fernando. Despite that work, he only pitched one inning in 2005 for C. Sandino then did not appear from 2006-2008. In 2009, he allowed one run in one inning for San Fernando. In 2010, he was 1-1 with a 4.13 ERA.

Jimmy did not pitch in 2011 but was 8-7 with a 1.87 ERA for San Fernando in 2012. He tied Arles Zelaya and Julio Ráudez for the league lead in complete games (7). He was 9-7 with 3 saves and a 3.58 ERA in 2013. The next year, he was 9-5 with 13 saves and a 2.78 ERA. He tied Fulvio Delgado for the lead in saves. He went 8-3 with two saves and a 2.44 ERA in 2015.

Bermúdez fell to 6-9, 3.09 with five saves in 2016. In 2017, the 35-year-old was 2-1 with a save and a 5.02 ERA. He moved to Boer in 2018 and went 3-1 with four saves and a 2.79 ERA, getting back on track. In '19, he was 7-2 with two saves and a 2.40 ERA, walking only 13 in 78 2/3 IP. That brought his career record to 55-36, 2.80 with 30 saves in 219 games (68 starts).

The veteran made his debut for the Nicaraguan national team in the 2019 Pan American Games. He pitched twice for the Bronze Medal winners. Against Colombia, he relieved Jesús Garrido in the 3rd with a 3-0 deficit, one on and two out. He got Derwin Pomare to hit into a force to end that inning. In the 4th, he struck out Steve Brown ,got Sneider Batista on a grounder, allowed a Milton Ramos single and whiffed Diover Ávila. After Nicaragua scored in the top of the 5th, he ran into trouble in the bottom of the 5th. He hit Efraín Contreras, who advanced on a Jonathan Lozada grounder, then walked Reynaldo Rodríguez. Rodríguez was caught stealing but Cristian Correa singled to make it 4-1 and Pomare singled as well. Junior Téllez relieved but let the inherited runner score to charge Jimmy with a second run. In his other outing, he closed out a 10-0 loss to Silver Medal winner Canada, relieving Téllez. He allowed a Wes Darvill single and walked Tristan Pompey before retiring Eric Wood.

He was on Nicaragua's roster for the 2020 Americas Olympic Qualifier before the event was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
