Biographical Information[edit]

Jecksson Flores has played as high as AAA and for the Venezuelan national team.

Flores was signed by Kansas City Royals scouts Joelvis Gonzalez and Richard Castro in 2010. [1] He made his pro debut with the DSL Royals in 2011, hitting .238/.366/.259 with 27 walks in 46 games, fielding .981 at SS and .955 at 2B. In 2012, he returned to the same club and showed a similar skill set (.224/.367/.272, 42 BB, 55 R in 65 G) though his fielding percentages were down. He tied Adrian Abreu for 3rd in the Dominican Summer League in runs and tied for 10th in walks. He came stateside in 2013 and batted .246/.351/.275 for the AZL Royals, scoring 25 times in 39 games and stealing 13 bases in 16 tries. He was only used at short this time, fielding .925. He tied Tucker Neuhaus for 8th in the Arizona League in walks and tied for 10th in swipes.

In 2014, he posted a .244/.289/.325 line for the Idaho Falls Chukars; the utility infielder's walk total fell drastically (10 in 49 G). He hit .305/.384/.404 for the '15 Idaho Falls club, stealing 15 bases in 20 tries. He was 10th in the Pioneer League in stolen bases. He made his Venezuelan Winter League debut with the Cardenales de Lara, going 0 for 2 and scoring 3 runs; he appears to have been a pinch-runner primarily. His first full-season stint was with the 2016 Lexington Legends. The speedy backup hit .205/.272/.309 and was 21-for-25 in steals. He drew a walk and scored a run for Lara in 2016-2017 but did not get an at-bat.

Primarily at shortstop for the 2017 Wilmington Blue Rocks, he hit .257/.314/.342. He began playing regularly back home, hitting .287/.333/.379 in 38 games for Lara. In the semifinals, he was 2 for 8 with a run. In the finals, he went 4 for 6 with a homer and a walk. [2] With the 2018 Northwest Arkansas Naturals, he saw at least ten games at 2B, 3B, SS and LF. He batted .314/.363/.440 with 31 doubles, 74 runs and 27 stolen bases (in 34 attempts). The utility player led the Texas League in average (.008 ahead of Eli White), was 6th in runs (between Fernando Tatis Jr. and Tyler Ramirez), tied Austin Allen for 3rd in doubles, tied Tommy Edman for 5th in swipes, was 8th in OBP (between Richie Martin and Dario Pizzano) and was 10th in OPS. He did not make the TL All-Star team; not having a set position likely didn't help. He was 4th in the Royals chain in runs, tied Gabriel Cancel for 3rd in doubles, was 8th in steals and led in average (.006 ahead of Nicky Lopez).

Flores hit .265/.331/.348 for Lara in 2018-2019. He saw scant action in the semifinals (0 for 1) and finals (0 for 2) and did not appear in the 2019 Caribbean Series. [3] In 2019, he was with the Omaha Storm Chasers and was their most-used option at both 2B (48 G, 17 ahead of Erick Mejia) and SS (50 G, 15 ahead of Mejia). He was with Venezuela for the 2019 Premier 12, getting into two games. He replaced Alí Castillo at 2B late in a loss to champion Japan, flying out against Yasuaki Yamasaki in the 9th. Against Taiwan, he replaced Diego Rincones as a pinch-runner in the 8th and stayed in the game in right field. [4]
