Ivan Andueza has pitched in the Dominican Republic, USA, Venezuela and Italy and for the Italian national team.
He was signed by Oakland A's scout Julio Franco. [1] He was 2-7 with a 3.09 ERA for the 2013 DSL Athletics. He tied for 7th in the Dominican Summer League in losses. He improved to 2-4, 2.94 with a save for the same team in 2014 then was 3-1 with a 2.51 ERA for the AZL Athletics in 2015. He was 4th in the Arizona League in ERA, between Yimaury Pena and Emilio Vargas. [2] In 2016, he pitched for the Vermont Lake Monsters (2-3, 4.68 in 13 G) and AZL Athletics (1 UER in 5 IP). Making his Venezuelan Winter League debut, he allowed 2 runs in 2 1/3 IP for the 2016-2017 Cardenales de Lara.
During 2017, he was 6-3 with a 2.75 ERA for Vermont. He was 10th in the New York-Penn League in ERA and tied Ike Schlabach for 7th in wins. He slipped to 4-10 with a save and a 5.35 ERA for the 2018 Beloit Snappers, tying for 5th in the Midwest League in losses. For Venezuela in the 2018 U-23 Baseball World Cup, he was 2-1 with a 2.35 ERA, beating the Dominicans and South Koreans but losing to #2 Japan; Venezuela finished third. He tied for the most wins, tied for second with five appearances and tied Francisco Haro for the most whiffs (18). [3]
The left-hander allowed one run in 2/3 of an inning for Lara in 2018-2019 then was 0-1 with a 3.86 ERA in 11 games for the 2019-2020 Navegantes del Magallanes. In 2020-2021, he was roughed up for Magallanes (11 R, 10 ER in 5 2/3 IP; 0-1). He pitched for Macareta in the 2021 Serie A1, going 2-2 with four saves and a 2.93 ERA, striking out 73 in 46 innings. He tied Gillian Wernet for the most saves. That winter, he gave up 7 runs in 6 1/3 IP for the Navegantes. Suiting up for Venezuela in the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games, he started against Curaçao. He faced the minimum through three, striking out Ulrich Snijders and Rayshelon Carolina. Andrelton Simmons opened the fourth with a single, Darren Seferina hit into a force and Dudley Leonora singled, chasing Andueza in favor of Wuilder Rodriguez. [4]
