Wernet struck out 12 in a four-hit shutout of Rapid City, SD for Oranjestad in the 2011 Little League World Series. [1] It was Aruba's lone win in that Little League World Series. He was signed by Baltimore Orioles scouts Fred Ferreira and Calvin Maduro in 2015. [2]

He made his pro debut with the 2016 DSL Orioles 2, going 2-2 with a 2.81 ERA. He came stateside in '17, going 0-1 with a 6.75 ERA for the GCL Orioles while moving to the bullpen. He split 2018 between the DSL Orioles (2-2, 2.86) and GCL Orioles (0-1, 11.12). He allowed six runs in five innings for the Netherlands in the 2018 U-23 Baseball World Cup; his four appearances tied Maickel Rietel for the team lead. [3]

After allowing six runs in a third of an inning for the '19 GCL Orioles, his time in their chain ended, having gone 4-6 with a 4.54 ERA in 38 games (20 starts) in the minor leagues. He pitched three shutout innings for the Netherlands in the 2019 European Championship U23. [4] Signing with HCAW after leaving the O's chain, he allowed two runs in two and two-thirds innings in the 2020 Hoofdklasse.

Moving to Quick Amersfoort in the 2020 Hoofdklasse, he was torched for 36 runs (32 earned) on 20 hits and 25 walks in 10 2/3 IP, going 0-2. He allowed the second-most earned runs in the league despite tying for 46th in innings pitched. Despite his troubles in the Netherlands, he got a chance in Italy in the 2021 Serie A1, pitching for Macerata. He was 1-1 with 5 saves and a 6.75 ERA, fanning 40 in 34 2/3 IP. He tied Ivan Andueza and Eddy Garcia for the league lead in saves despite his ERA. [5]

Wernet's next stop was with Draci Brno in 2022. He started their opener of the 2022 European Champions Cup but allowed eight hits and four runs in five innings in a loss to Parma and Emailin Montilla; he outperformed his staffmates, though; Maikel Aguiar relieved and yielded five runs in two. [6]
