Emailin Montilla has pitched in Japan, the Dominican Republic, Italy and Nicaragua.
Montilla went to the Hiroshima Carp's baseball academy in the Dominican and they signed him in 2019. His fastball was timed at 95 mph. [1] He was 2-4 with a 2.78 ERA in the minor Western League, finishing 7th with 62 K. He did not do as well with the big club that year, being lit up for 11 hits, a walk and 8 runs (7 earned) in 4 1/3 IP, going 0-2. He struck out four; his first Central League strikeout victim was Akihiro Wakabayashi. [2] He pitched 1 2/3 shutout innings in the Dominican Winter League for the Toros del Este.
He slumped in 2020 (2-2, 5.02 in the WL, 2 runs in one inning for the top club). He pitched a shutout frame for the Toros in 2020-2021. He was 3-3 with a 4.14 ERA for the Gigantes de Rivas in the 2021-2022 Nicaraguan League. [3] He then signed with Parma in Italy. In the 2022 European Champions Cup, he beat Gillian Wernet and Draci Brno in the opener, allowing two hits, a walk and one unearned run in five innings, fanning seven; Marc-André Habeck saved the game.
