Biographical Information

Fred Ferreira was a long-time scout. He signed Bernie Williams, Vladimir Guerrero, Roberto Kelly, Mike Pagliarulo, Andrés Aguilar, Oscar Azócar, Orlando Cabrera, Armando Galarraga, Irving Ortega, Henry Mateo, Juan Montes, Jhon Peluffo, Ademar Rifaela, Wilkin Ruan, Wilson Valdez, Rick Vanden Hurk, Jose Vidro, Fabián Vizcaino and Gillian Wernet among others.

Ferreira was a scout for the St. Louis Cardinals in 1978, California Angels in 1979-1980, and New York Yankees in 1981-1988. He worked for the Montréal Expos and Florida Marlins as international scouting director and also worked for the Oakland Athletics and Philadelphia Phillies. He also managed the 1986 and 1987 GCL Yankees. He later became an agent.

In 2013 Ferreira was Executive Director, International Recruiting for the Baltimore Orioles.
