Bong-ok Oh pitched in the KBO for 15 years.
Oh was drafted by the Samsung Lions in the 6th round of the 1992 KBO draft, and he had an outstanding performance as a rookie. He went 13-0 with a 3.55 ERA as a reliever, and he set the KBO record for most wins without a loss. Oh was 10th in wins, tied with Dong-soo Shin, Tae-il Lee and Jung-hyun Park. He was 2-7 with a 3.39 ERA in 1993, and his ERA rose to 6.82 in 19 games in 1994. Oh bounced back soon, and he went 6-9 with a 2.90 ERA in 1995. He was 8th in ERA that season, between Ki-bum Kim and Jong-seok Yeom. However, Oh was caught drunk driving after the season, and the Lions released him.
The Ssangbangwool Raiders picked him up, and Oh was 9-7 with a 3.06 ERA in 1996. He slumped to 7-7 with a 5.20 ERA in 1997, and his ERA was 5.68 with a 2-6 record in 1998. The Raiders then traded him with Kye-won Park to the Haitai Tigers for Jae-young Park and Koo-hong Song, and Oh was 6-9 with a 3.40 ERA and 8 saves in 1999. He notched 8 holds and 8 saves with a 2.86 ERA in 2000, and he ranked 6th in holds (tied with Tae-Han Kim). Oh got 14 saves with a 4.74 ERA in 50 games in 2001, and he was 5th in saves (tied with Seok-jin Park). He recorded a 3.31 ERA in 40 games in 2002, but he only pitched 4 games in 2003 and the Tigers released him. He signed with the Hanwha Eagles, and his ERA was 5.97 in 40 games in 2004. Oh struggled again in 2005 as his ERA was 5.65 in 40 appearances, and he announced his retirement in 2006.
Overall, Oh was 63-68 with a 3.99 ERA, notched 15 holds and 56 saves in 488 appearances, struck out 754 and pitched 1,146 2/3 innings in 15 seasons in the KBO. As of 2024, he is tied with Hyun-seung Lee for the 42nd in saves in KBO history.
