Biographical Information[edit]

Submariner Tae-il Lee played in the Korea Baseball Organization for 6 years.

Lee played for South Korea in the 1989 Asian Championship. The Samsung Lions selected him in the first round of the 1990 KBO draft, and he went 13-6 with a 3.50 ERA in 1990. On August 8 against the Lotte Giants, Lee completed the first no-hitter in Samsung's history, and he was the first rookie to pitch a no-hitter. Lee ranked 5th in wins in his first season, tied with Yong-deok Han, Jung-hyun Park and Seong-kil Kim. He lost Game 2 of the 1990 Korean Series to the LG Twins' Sam-heun Jeong; LG wound up sweeping Samsung.

He then went 10-10 with a 4.64 ERA in 1991, and he was 13-7 with a 2.86 ERA in 1992. He was 4th in ERA (between Eun-jin Park and Kye-hyun Cho) and 10th in wins (tied with Dong-soo Shin and Bong-ok Oh). Lee had a 4-3 record with a 3.97 ERA in 1993, then he went 6-10 with a 3.38 ERA in 1994. He then missed the entire 1995 season due to thrombus, and he announced his retirement after having a 6.50 ERA in 12 games in 1996.

Overall, Lee was 48-39 with a 3.81 ERA, struck out 230 and pitched 637 innings in 6 seasons in the KBO.
