Atlantic-10 Conference
The Atlantic-10 Conference was originally formed as a basketball conference in 1975, as the Eastern Collegiate Basketball League, beginning play in the 1976-1977 season. The league changed names to the Eastern 8 the next year and added other sports, including baseball. Several membership changes later (i.e. Rhode Island, St. Bonaventure, Saint Joseph's, and Temple replaced Pittsburgh and Villanova) the league transformed into the Atlantic-10. The conference began supporting a baseball championship in 1979. The conference used a divisonal format from 1981-1992 and then again 1996-2000 and again in 2002-2005.
