Alex Rodriguez has played in the minors and for the Curaçao national team.
The Colorado Rockies took him in the 16th round of the 2013 amateur draft; the scout was John Cedarburg. [1] He allowed five runs in five innings for the Tri-City Dust Devils that year. In 2014, he was 0-1 with a 7.20 ERA for the Grand Junction Rockies. He moved on to the Tampa Bay Rays chain, where he was used instead as a first baseman. He hit .277/.348/.373 for the 2015 DSL Rays and .249/.345/.308 for the '16 DSL Rays 2.
He was 1 for 14 with a homer for Bologna in 2019. He allowed two runs in one inning in the 2019 World Port Tournament, losing to Japan, but had two RBI in an upset over the Netherlands and 3 RBI versus Taiwan. He hit .316/.368/.462 with 7 RBI in 7 games, handling 40 chances error-free. He was 5th in OBP (between Sherman Lacrus and Gianfranco Morello), 2nd to Ryuma Seki in RBI, led in walks (6, one ahead of Sharlon Schoop) and was 5th in putouts (40). [2]
Rodriguez helped Curaçao win the 2021 Caribbean Baseball Cup. [3] He pitched four shutout innings in the 2022 Haarlem Baseball Week, saving Nelmerson Angela's win over the USA and was 2-for-12 with two walks. He handled 33 chances error-free. He was 5th with 30 putouts, between Iván Prieto and Guillermo Avilés. [4]
In the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games, he singled off Nelson Alfaro and José Roca but was otherwise 0-for-11. He allowed one run in 2 1/3 IP, saving Cerilio Soleana's win over Venezuela. [5] In the 2024 Caribbean Series, he retired one batter and allowed a hit and a walk for the Curaçao Suns.
