Baltimore had taken a 2 - 1 lead on homers by rookies Ryan Flaherty and Manny Machado off Hiroki Kuroda, until Ibanez turned the game's tide.

The Orioles evened the ALDS against the Yankees with a 2-1 win, meaning that all four Division Series would go the distance this year. J.J. Hardy drove in the winning run with a double, scoring Manny Machado in the 13th inning in the longest postseason game in Orioles history.

  • Attendance: 47,081

Behind CC Sabathia, the Yankees fought off the pesky Orioles, 3-1, in Game 5 of the ALDS. Sabathia allowed only 4 hits in a dominant complete game effort. With Alex Rodriguez on the bench, New York scored twice in 6 innings against Jason Hammel, and Curtis Granderson added a solo homer in the 7th. The Orioles scored once in the 8th, but never mounted a significant threat against the Yankees' ace.
