History, Comments, Contributions[edit]

The 2009 Los Angeles Dodgers opened the season with 13 consecutive wins at home to set the modern major league record. Only a few 19th Century teams, the most recent being the 1886 Chicago White Stockings with 14, had ever done better. The record has since been broken by the 2023 Tampa Bay Rays. The strong opening was a presage to a season in which they won 95 games and won a division title in the NL West, their second straight, although it was no cakewalk as they only finished three games ahead of the second-place Colorado Rockies.
