The 1952 Brooklyn Dodgers won fewer games than the 1953 team, but they came closer to winning the World Series, being tied in the 6th inning of the seventh game before falling to the New York Yankees once again.
1952 was Gil Hodges' year. He led the team with 32 home runs, 27 doubles, 102 RBI, 107 walks, and a .500 slugging percentage. Jackie Robinson had the highest batting average and scored the most runs. Robinson led the National League in OBP, Pee Wee Reese led the league in stolen bases, and seven Brooklyn players were named to the All-Star team.
No starter won more than 14 games, although reliever Joe Black went 15-4 with 15 saves. Black was the NL Rookie of the Year.
