The 2007 Hoofdklasse season was a lot of old news. The 2006 champion, Corendon Kinheim, repeated as champions, easily winning the 2007 Holland Series. The team they beat was also a repeat as it was again the Konica Minolta Pioniers. The other traditional powerhouse, DOOR Neptunus, led in the early-going and lost a close pennant race before falling to the Pioniers in the playoffs.

An old-timer, 46-year-old Fausto Álvarez, set a new record for homers in the wood bat era, with 12.

The league bid goodbye to one of its long-time members as Almere was relegated.

Álvarez was not the only Cuban of note in the 2007 season - Eddie Oropesa was one of the rare former major leaguers not of Dutch citizenship to appear in the league's history. He was 3-5 with a 2.36 ERA, far from making the headlines that his countrymate made.
