Biographical Information

Marlon Fluonia became head coach of the MediaMonks RCH in May of 2007, replacing Ramses Meering.

Fluonia played 48 games for the Dutch national team in his career. He helped the Netherlands to a Silver in the 1989 European Championship and again in the 1991 European Championship and then for a Gold in the 1993 European Championship (0 for 4, 5 BB, R, backing up Johnny Balentina at catcher). In the 1996 Olympics, Fluonia went 0 for 7 in 3 games and was hit by a pitch. He backed up Balentina. In the 1996 Haarlem Baseball Week, he backed up Balentina and went 1 for 1 in a loss to Japan; he played one other game but did not bat. He went 0 for 14 with two walks in the 1990 Baseball World Cup.

In Hoofdklasse Honkbal, Marlon played in 755 games in 21 seasons. He played for UVV, Neptunus, Quick Amersfoort, Sparta/Feyenoord and Instant Holland Almere '90. In his final season (2005), the former catcher was primarily at first base and hit .232/.320/.268 for Almere.

In July of 2007, Fluonia retired as RCH head coach, saying the team lacked motivation.
