1991 European Championship
The 1991 European Championship was held from August 2 through August 11, 1991 in Italy.
Italy won its second straight European Championship, going 8-0 and sweeping the Netherlands in all 3 games in the finals. Roberto Bianchi was named best hitter and Guglielmo Trinci MVP; Trinci hit .459 and drove home 13.
Netherlands went 4-4 to take home Silver.
Spain was 5-3, 2-1 in the Bronze Medal series with France. Xavier Camps was named Best Pitcher while Xavier Civit threw a no-hitter against Britain.
France finished 4th at 4-4, its best finish to that point.
Belgium placed 5th at 5-3.
Soviet Union made its debut in the Euros with a solid 4-4 showing and 6th place. They were 0-3 in the first round but 4-1 in the 5th-8th seed grouping.
Sweden was 3-5, finishing 7th. They allowed 26 runs to Italy one game.
United Kingdom was a miserable 0-8 to finish last.
