2025 European Championship

The 2025 European Championship was originally scheduled to be hosted for the first time outside of Europe, in Israel, but had to be moved after Israel was attacked by Hamas terrorists, starting a war. The field will consist of 15 of the same 16 teams as in 2023 as both  Austria and  Hungary defended their spots in the 2024 European Championship Qualifier. The third qualifier was also affected by war as 2023 participant  Ukraine withdrew; taking the war-plagued country's spot was  Lithuania, another Former Soviet Union country. Lithuania had just missed out qualifying four times from 1996-2019 and was playing in their first European Championship.
