History, Comments, Contributions[edit]
On July 12th, a "Disco Demolition Night" promotion between the games of a 1979 Chicago White Sox doubleheader against the Detroit Tigers got out of control. The Sox had to forfeit the second game of the twinbill as a result of the field at Comiskey Park not being in a playable condition. Less than a month later, on August 2nd, manager Don Kessinger, the last player-manager in American League history, was fired and replaced by Iowa Oaks manager Tony LaRussa.
