1974 Central American and Caribbean Games

The 1974 Central American and Caribbean Games were held from February 27 through March 12, 1974, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
Cuba went 9-1 to take home Gold. Servio Borges managed the team, which had numerous stars. Rodolfo Puente led the Games in average (.500), Agustín Marquetti tied for the double lead (4), Armando Capiró led in RBI (15) and triples (3) and Juan Pérez Pérez was 3-0 with a 0.00 ERA in 22 1/3 IP to lead in wins and ERA.
Dominican Republic won Silver with a 8-2 record under manager Rafael Luis López. Alberto Lois (.444) led in hits (20) and slugging (.609) and tied for the lead in runs (13) and homers (1). Jose Guerrero tied for the double lead (4). Silvio Martinez (2-0) led in strikeouts (29). Also contributing well were Sergio de la Hoz (.355), Alex Taveras (.350) and Pablo Alcántara (2-0).
Puerto Rico placed third at 6-4 but was the only team to beat Cuba. Rafael Vega tied for the most runs (13) while Hector Flores tied for the most wins (3).
Venezuela was 4th at 4-5. Jesús Hernández and Pedro Avila tied for the most swipes (4).
El Salvador was 5th at 1-8. Willy Renderos tied for the steal lead (4).
United States Virgin Islands were last at 1-9. Romel Wallace tied for the double lead (4).
