The seven top black teams in 1912 were the St. Louis Giants (16-9 against other top black teams), Chicago American Giants (20-14), New York Lincoln Giants (5-4), Cuban Stars (8-7), Brooklyn Royal Giants (5-7), Leland Giants (4-11) and West Baden Sprudels (0-5). Kiko Magrinat of the Cuban Stars hit .440, the top mark, while Jules Thomas of St. Louis led with 3 homers. Hall-of-Famers were Jose Mendez (3-1, .244 for Cuba), Rube Foster (5-2, 4.58 RA, the American Giants player-manager), Ben Taylor (.375, 0-1 for West Baden), Smokey Joe Williams (3-2, 2.20 RA, .300 average for New York), Pop Lloyd (.162 for New York) and Louis Santop (.412 with New York).

The Lincoln Giants played a couple exhibition games against major leaguers, mostly from the New York Giants and New York Highlanders. They won 6-0 in both games behind Williams, getting only four hits each time.
