Biographical Information[edit]

Ben Taylor was a great Negro League first baseman, his career lasting from 1908 to 1929. In a 1949 Philadelphia Evening Bulletin article, Oscar Charleston chose Ben Taylor as his first baseman on his all-time All-Star team. In all but one of his first 16 seasons, Taylor batted over .300.

He is the brother of Candy Jim Taylor, C.I. Taylor and Steel Arm Johnny Taylor.
