The first major Negro League team from Washington, DC joined the Eastern Colored League in its second season in 1924 after one year as an independent club. The Washington Potomacs went 23-36 and finished 6th in the 8-team league. Managed by first baseman Ben Taylor (.319), the club later moved to Wilmington, DE and became the Wilmington Potomacs.
