Yuki Katayama has pitched for the Japanese national team.
Katayama played for Honda in the industrial leagues after college. [1] He pitched for Japan in the 2022 Asian Games. He relieved Shuichiro Kayo in the 7th inning against the Philippines, and pitched three perfect innings with three strikeouts. He then replaced Shunya Morita in the 4th inning against China, pitched 3 innings with a single allowed to Nan Du and struck out three. He relieved Mizuki Kato in the 7th inning against South Korea, pitched a shutout inning with two strikeouts against Baek-ho Kang and Hyung-jun Kim, but also allowed a double to Ju-won Kim. Only Tae-in Won had more IP with a 0.00 ERA in those Games. He helped Japan win Bronze. [2]
