Biographical Information[edit]

Ju-won Kim has played in the Korea Baseball Organization and for the South Korean national team.

Kim was selected by the NC Dinos in the first round of the 2021 KBO draft, and he hit .241/.316/.386 with 5 homers in 69 games in his rookie year.[1] He missed the first two months of the 2022 season due to right ankle injuries, and he ended up hitting .223/.331/.388 with 10 homers. He was the youngest NC players to hit double-digit homers in a season. Kim struggled in 2023 as his batting line was .233/.328/.340, and he also committed 29 errors as a shortstop. He was on South Korea's roster for the 2022 Asian Games, and he was 1-for-3 against Thailand. Kim went 1-for-3, with a double against Yuki Katayama of Japan national team, and he was 2-for-4, with a 2-run shot against Xiang Wang of China. Kim went 0-for-3 in the Gold Medal Game, and South Korea beat Chinese Taipei to win the Gold.[2] That won him exemption from military service in Korea.

The Gunpo native then represented South Korea in the 2023 Asia Professional Baseball Championship. He was 2-for-3, with a RBI single against Daniel McGrath of Australia, then he went 0-for-3 against Japan. Kim collected a RBI triple against Chih-Hsuan Wang of Chinese Taipei with a 3-for-4 record, and he was 1-for-4 in the Gold Medal game versus Japan. South Korea lost due to Makoto Kadowaki's walk-off single. He was named the shortstop of the All-Tournament Team. [3]

Kim played a 134 games as NC's starting shortstop in 2024, and he had a .252/.371/.379 batting line with 10 homers.
