Makoto Kadowaki has played in Nippon Pro Baseball.
Kadowaki was drafted by the Yomiuri Giants in the fourth round of the 2022 NPB draft.[1] He became the Giants' starting shortstop as a rookie, and he hit .263/.302/.335 with 11 steals in 2023. He won a vote in 2023 CL Rookie of the Year voting, finishing fifth behind Shoki Murakami's 285 votes, Shota Morishita's 10, Yuto Akihiro's 6 and Shinya Matsuyama's 4.[2] Kadowaki then made it onto Japan's roster for the 2023 Asia Professional Baseball Championship. He was 3-for-4, with a RBI single off Jyun-Yueh Tseng of Taiwan in their opener, then went 1-for-3 against South Korea. He was 1-for-4 with a walk against Australia. In the Gold Medal Game, against Korea again, he had one hit in 4 at-bats, but that hit was a clutch walk-off single against Hai-young Jung in the 10th inning. Kadowaki won the tournament MVP,and he was also named as the second baseman on the All-Tournament Team. [3]
