Biographical Information

Makoto Kadowaki has played in Nippon Pro Baseball.

Kadowaki was drafted by the Yomiuri Giants in the fourth round of the 2022 NPB draft. He became the Giants' starting shortstop as a rookie, and he hit .263/.302/.335 with 11 steals in 2023. He won a vote in 2023 CL Rookie of the Year voting, finishing fifth behind Shoki Murakami's 285 votes, Shota Morishita's 10, Yuto Akihiro's 6 and Shinya Matsuyama's 4. Kadowaki then made it onto Japan's roster for the 2023 Asia Professional Baseball Championship. He was 3-for-4, with a RBI single off Jyun-Yueh Tseng of Taiwan in their opener, then went 1-for-3 against South Korea. He was 1-for-4 with a walk against Australia. In the Gold Medal Game, against Korea again, he had one hit in 4 at-bats, but that hit was a clutch walk-off single against Hai-young Jung in the 10th inning. Kadowaki won the tournament MVP,and he was also named as the second baseman on the All-Tournament Team.
