Biographical Information[edit]

Yuto Akihiro has played in Nippon Pro Baseball. He was the tallest Japanese player ever in NPB history.[1]

Akihiro was drafted by the Yomiuri Giants in the fifth round of the 2020 NPB draft, and he spent his first two seasons in the NPB Farm Leagues.[2] He led the Eastern League in hits with 98 in 2022. The Giants promoted him in 2023, and he hit .273/.318/.401 with 10 homers. He won 6 votes in 2023 CL Rookie of the Year voting, finishing third behind Shoki Murakami's 285 votes and Shota Morishita's 10. Akihiro then made it onto Japan's roster for the 2023 Asia Professional Baseball Championship. He was 0-for-6 with 2 walks in the entire event. Japan beat South Korea and win Gold. [3]
