Mizuki Kato has pitched for the Japanese national team.
Kato played for ENEOS in the industrial leagues after college. [1] He pitched for Japan in the 2022 Asian Games. He relieved Makoto Hori in the 4th inning against the Philippines, allowing 2 hits in 2 innings to get a win. He then replaced Yuki Katayama against China, pitched 2 hitless innings and struck out two. He relieved Shuichiro Kayo in the 6th inning against South Korea, struck out Bo-gyeong Moon then Yuki Katayama succeeded him. His last appearance was the Bronze Medal game, against China again. The southpaw relieved Hori in the 5th inning, pitched one shutout inning with a walk to Ning Li and a strikeout against Jinjun Luo, and Japan won Bronze. He led Japan in games pitched; only Yayua Wa pitched more times in the '22 Games. [2]
