Biographical Information

Yeudy García has pitched in the Dominican Republic, US, Venezuela, Spain and Nicaragua and for the Spanish national team. He peaked at AA and won ERA titles in the US minors and in Spain.

He was signed by Pittsburgh Pirates scouts Rene Gayo and Juan Mercado in February 2013. He was 4-3 with a 2.31 ERA for the DSL Pirates in 2014. Coming to the US, he dazzled for the '15 West Virginia Power at 12-5, 2.10. He led the South Atlantic League in ERA (.03 better than Marc Reyes), tied Ariel Jurado and Thaddius Lowry for second in wins (4 behind Austin Coley), was 3rd in WHIP (1.07, after Collin Wiles and Jurado) and was 5th with 112 K (between Sam Coonrod and Coley). He was named the SAL All-Star right-handed pitcher and Most Outstanding Pitcher. Baseball America named him as the league's #9 prospect, between Braxton Davidson and Michael Kopech. He tied Jason Creasy and Cody Dickson for 4th in the Bucs chain in victories, was second to Sam Street in ERA and was third in whiffs (after Tyler Glasnow and Steven Brault). Pittsburgh named him their Minor League Pitcher of the Year.

With the 2016 Bradenton Marauders, he was 6-8 with a save and a 2.76 ERA. His 127 strikeouts were third in the Pirates chain, behind Mitch Keller and Glasnow. In the Florida State League, he was 5th in ERA, second in strikeouts and first among starting pitchers in K/IP rate. He slipped in 2017 with the Altoona Curve (4-7, 5 Sv, 5.25) and a rehab stint with the GCL Pirates (1 UER in 3 IP). He was 1-2 with a save and a 6.10 ERA for the 2019 Curve. He was 0-1 with a 2.77 ERA for the Leones del Caracas that winter in Venezuela.

The former prospect resurfaced in 2022 with Spain's Marlins Puerto Cruz. He lost to the Hoboken Pioneers and Bebee Brayden in the Marlins' lone loss in the 2022 Confederation Cup, costing them a spot in the championship game; he allowed 3 runs (2 earned) in 7 innings. He was 5-0 with a 1.16 ERA and .152 opponent average in the Spanish Baseball League that year. He won the ERA title (.36 ahead of Ronald Medrano) and allowed the lowest average (.010 better than Medrano) as the Marlins won the title.

Appearing for Spain in the 2022 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers, he played in both of their games against the Czech Republic. Closing out their 21-7 win, he relieved Fernando Baez. He struck out Filip Smola, then retired Milan Prokop and Vojtěch Menšík. His other outing, he succeeded Medrano in the 5th with a 3-1 deficit with a spot in the 2023 World Baseball Classic at stake; there were two men aboard and none out. He retired Menšík then struck out Petr Zýma and Marek Chlup to escape the jam. He struck out the next four batters and was perfect over the final five innings except for a Chlup single and a hit-by-pitch to Martin Mužík. It was too little, too late, as the Czech pitchers kept up their lead. For the qualifiers that year, he led in RA (Michal Kovala was 1/3 inning shy), second in ERA (Osman Gutiérrez was at 0.00 in 9 IP), second in strikeouts (3 behind Medrano), tied for third in appearances (tied for the lead on Spain's staff), tied Lucas Ramón for 7th in innings, first in WHIP (.02 ahead of Ariel Jurado) and second to Enzo Sawayama in opponent average.

García's next stop was the Nicaraguan League, pitching for the Indios del Bóer.
