Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Collin Wiles was selected by the Texas Rangers in the supplemental first round of the 2012 amateur draft, with the 53rd overall pick. He soon signed and made his pro debut with the AZL Rangers, going 1-1 with a 6.87 ERA in 14 appearances. However, it took him more than a decade to make his major league debut, doing so on September 14, 2022, by which time he was pitching for the Oakland Athletics. He had actually been in the Rangers system until 2021, when he reached AAA for the first time with the Round Rock Express, then moved over to the A's for 2022, spending another season in AAA, this time with the Las Vegas Aviators. He had been 7-2, 4.19 as a swingman in 2021, but fell to 9-11, 5.40 in 26 starts in 2022.

In his major league debut, he faced his former team, the Rangers, pitching 1 1/3 inning in relief of JP Sears and giving up 2 runs, both coming on a home run by Jonah Heim, in an 8-7 win.
