Biographical Information

Taylor Green had a productive minor league season in 2007, after which he joined Team Canada for a period. He made his major league debut in 2011.

Green was voted his high school's athlete of the year as a senior. He went on to Cypress College. The Milwaukee Brewers took him in the 25th round of the 2005 amateur draft as a draft-and-follow pick. After another year of junior college, he was signed by scout Bruce Seid and debuted with the Helena Brewers in 2006, hitting .231/.328/.308 in 62 games. He led Pioneer League second basemen in putouts (125) and assists (179). In 2007, Green looked far better with the West Virginia Power, batting .327/.406/.516 with 86 RBI. He was 4th in the South Atlantic League in average and made the league All-Star team at third base.

In the 2007 Baseball World Cup, Green hit only .174/.200/.217 as Canada's main third baseman and had a crucial two-base error in a one-run loss to Australia. He remained with Canada for the 2008 Final Olympic Qualification Tournament, going 2 for 7 with a double, backing up Stubby Clapp at second and Matt Rogelstad at third.

Green then spent the next four seasons in the Brewers' minor league system, making steady but slow progress up the organizational ladder. He was a Florida State League All-Star with the Brevard County Manatees in 2008, where he hit .289/.382/.443 in 114 games. He hit 15 homers and drove in 73 runs that year. He was 10th in the FSL in average and was named the All-Star utility man. In 2009, he spent most of the season with the AA Huntsville Stars, except for a rehabilitation assignment of 6 games with the Class A Wisconsin Timber Rattlers. The injury also cost him some playing time at Huntsville, where he only got into 87 games, hitting .258/.330/.356. Repeating the AA level in 2010, he played a full season with the Stars, getting into 113 games in which he hit .260/.336/.438. In the 2010 Pan American Games Qualifying Tournament, he again represented Canada.

He moved up to the AAA Nashville Sounds in 2011, except for 3 games back at Huntsville, and hit a combined .336 in 123 games. He also showed more power than ever before, banging out 37 doubles and 22 homers, scoring 76 runs and driving in 91. That excellent season finally got him a call to the big leagues.

Facing the St. Louis Cardinals in his big league debut on August 31, 2011, Green pinch-hit for pitcher Randy Wolf in the 5th inning and collected his first major league hit off Jake Westbrook.

He later scouted for Milwaukee, signing YongKang Kou and Jian Yi.
