Biographical Information[edit]
YongKang Kou played in the minors and for the Chinese national team.
He has been on the Shanghai Eagles. [1] He was with China for the 2018 U-18 Asian Championship. [2] In the 2019 U-18 Baseball World Cup, he batted .174/.296/.217 and was 3-for-3 in steals; he fielded .947 as a 3B/LF. Only Ji-chan Kim had more steals. [3] During the event, he was signed by Milwaukee Brewers scout Taylor Green. [4]
Kou batted .143/.158/.184 for the 2019 AZL Brewers Blue, fielding .984 at 1B and playing a little third and left. He was then released in 2020. [5] He was China's starting left fielder, hitting 7th, in their 2023 World Baseball Classic opener. He grounded out against Shohei Ohtani of champion Japan his first time up and finished the tourney 0-for-6 with two walks (from Martin Schneider and Michal Kovala) and a run. [6] He then made China's team for the 2023 Asian Games. [7]
