Biographical Information[edit]

Jake Westbrook was drafted in the first round of the 1996 amateur draft by the Colorado Rockies out of high school after finishing with a 17-4 record, 1.46 ERA, and 246 strikeouts in only 153 1/3 innings worked. Prior to his junior year of high school, Westbrook had pitched only two-thirds of an inning at the varsity level.

He was traded twice prior to making his major league debut: first to the Montreal Expos after the 1997 season, and then to the New York Yankees after the 1999 season. He made his debut with the Yankees in 2000, and then pitched 12 other seasons after that.
