Biographical Information[edit]
Seung-ho Lee has pitched in the KBO and for the South Korean national team. He had big shoes to fill in terms of his name as the two earlier hurlers with the same name (Seung-ho Lee, Seung-ho Lee) had good careers.
Lee was the KIA Tigers' second-round pick in the 2017 draft. [1] He was 1-3 with a 5.60 ERA in 32 games as a rookie in 2018. He was then dealt with Dong-wook Son to the Kiwoom Heroes for Jae-sin Ryu and Se-hyun Kim. [2] He was 8-5 with a 4.48 ERA in the 2019 KBO.
He then was a late addition to South Korea's squad for the 2019 Premier 12, replacing the injured Chang-mo Koo. He was the team's youngest hurler; only Baek-ho Kang was younger among the position players. His first game, he closed out a 7-0 win over Cuba. Succeeding Jae-hoon Ha in the 9th, he allowed a Pavel Quesada single but fanned Alexander Ayala and Yosvany Alarcon then got Erisbel Arruebarruena to hit into a game-ending force. His other outing came against tourney champion Japan. Getting the start (both teams having locked up spots in the finals already), he allowed a leadoff double to Tetsuto Yamada, retired Hayato Sakamoto and Yoshihiro Maru (by K), walked MVP Seiya Suzuki and got Hideto Asamura on a grounder. In the 2nd, he got Masataka Yoshida on a grounder and Nobuhiro Matsuda on a fly but Tsubasa Aizawa and Ryosuke Kikuchi hit back-to-back doubles for a run before Yamada flew out. The second time through the order went badly as Sakamoto doubled then Maru, Suzuki, Asamura and Yoshida hit four singles in a row for a 3-0 edge. Yong-chan Lee relieved and let all three inherited runners score, charging Seung-ho with 8 hits and 6 runs in 2 innings. He finished with the team's highest ERA (18.00), double Jong-hyan Won, the next-highest. [3]
