Biographical Information[edit]
Catcher Randy Knorr was selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 10th round of the 1986 amateur draft. He played parts of eleven seasons in the majors, appearing in the 1993 World Series while with the Blue Jays.
After his playing days, Knorr managed in the Washington Nationals organization, starting with the Savannah Sand Gnats in 2005. He began 2006 as manager of the Potomac Nationals before being named the Nationals' bullpen coach on June 16th. After the season, he returned to Potomac. He was again a member of Washington's big league staff in 2009 as their bullpen coach before going back to the minors to manage in 2010. After the 2010 season, he also managed the Scottsdale Scorpions in the Arizona Fall League. In 2012, he went back to Washington as bench coach for Davey Johnson and stayed until the end of the 2015 season. He moved into the National's front office for 2016-2017. His title was "Senior Baseball Adviser" although he was still listed among the coaching staff. Knorr returned to managing in AAA for the Nationals in 2018-2019. He was scheduled to manage the Fresno Grizzlies in 2020 before the season was cancelled due to COVID-19. In 2021, he was named first base coach with the Nats, but stayed only that season. He returned to a development role in 2022 as the team's minor league catching coordinator, a role he continued through 2024.
