Biographical Information[edit]
Raul Reyes played parts of two seasons in AAA.
Reyes was signed by New York Mets scout Eddy Toledo in 2004. He made his pro debut with the 2005 DSL Mets, hitting .263/.392/.392 with 45 walks in 71 games. He came to the US with the 2006 Kingsport Mets and his batting line was .273/.393/.413 that summer. In 2007, he fielded .991 as the starting center fielder for the Brooklyn Cyclones and hit .233/.321/.423. Ge struck out in 94 of 253 at-bats but hit 9 home runs. He led the New York-Penn League in strikeouts and tied Matt Spencer, Casper Wells, Joe Mahoney and Victor Santana for 5th in homers. He only played 13 games for the 2008 Savannah Sand Gnats (.298/.327/.468) before injury cut his season short.
Back and healthy for Savannah in 2009, he produced at a .253/.333/.415 clip with 9 triples. He tied Anthony Gose for 4th in the South Atlantic League in triples and led Mets farmhands in that department. The Dominican split 2010 between the St. Lucie Mets (.218/.261/.356 in 52 G) and Binghamton Mets (.232/.277/.403), with 12 home runs overall and 107 strikeouts in 385 at-bats. In 2011, he had 12 assists between Binghamton (.292/.339/.466 in 107 G) and the Buffalo Bisons (.200/.241/.400 in 18 G). He struck out 112 times and hit 14 home runs that year. He was 8th in the Mets chain in homers (between Stefan Welch and Cory Vaughn) and 9th in whiffs. He missed the Eastern League's top 10 in average by .003 and tied for 10th in slugging.
In 2012, Raul repeated with Binghamton (.253/.320/.393 in 51 G) and Buffalo (.250/.354/.35 in 51 G), striking out 88 times in 302 at-bats for the year. He did not play in the minors in 2013; when Fortitudo Bologna in the Italian Baseball League let Chris Aguila, though, they signed the free agent. He went 2 for 7 with a walk and a run in the 2013 European Cup finals as Bologna beat Telemarket Rimini. He scored the winning run in the finale. With two outs in the 9th and a 1-1 tie, he singled off Carlos Pezzullo, advanced on a single by Claudio Liverziani and scored on a hit by Luca Bischeri.
