He hot a tough call, facing champion the Netherlands. He retired Randolph Oduber to start it then allowed a double to former major leaguer Roger Bernadina, who stole third. He escaped the jam when Curt Smith flew into a double play. He stranded two in the second then allowed one in the third when Bernadina grounded in Nick Urbanus. In four innings, he allowed five hits, four walks and five runs (all earned) but his 11.25 ERA was better than Sweden's team mark of 11.52. He led Sweden in games pitched, tying Alex Bassani and former major leaguer Zack Weiss for the event lead. [3]
He did not play in 2020, which was shortened by COVID-19. From 2003-2020, he was 36-41 with a 5.41 ERA. He tied Magnus Pilegård for the 6th-most wins in that span but was also 4th in losses, two behind leader Mikael Boström. His 368 K were 7th, between Karlsson and Richard Leander.
