Mattias Stenis went 2 for 12 for the 2004 Rättvik Butchers and gave up 7 runs in 4 2/3 IP. He did not play in the Elitserien in 2005. In 2006, he was 5-3 with a 2.85 ERA for the Leksand Lumberjacks. He was 4th in the Elitserien in ERA and opponent average (.202) and 6th in strikeouts (57 in 60 IP). He did not play in the '07 Elitserien but was with Sweden for the 2007 European Championship, going 1-1 with a 7.94 ERA; he beat Croatia but lost to France.

In 2008, Stenis returned to the Butchers and posted a 9-2, 3.18 record. He struck out 95 in 90 2/3 IP. He tied Joakim Claesson for second in the league in wins, one behind Kent Karlsson, and was third in ERA. He led in strikeouts, nine ahead of Claesson. He also batted .333/.421/.347.

After limited action in 2009, Mattias was not put on Sweden's preliminary roster for the 2009 Baseball World Cup.
