Biographical Information[edit]

Shawn Hetherington pitched 3 games for Canada in the 2010 World University Championship (4 H, 2 BB, 5 K, 1 R, 3 IP). He went 5-5 with 21 saves and a 2.64 ERA in college, setting school records for saves in a season and a career. In 2011, he was 1-2 with a 4.98 ERA for the Calgary Vipers, walking only 4 in 21 2/3 IP. He struck out a league-best 80 batters in the 2011-2012 South Australian League. The Karlskoga Bats of Sweden signed him for 2013, replacing Spencer Kreisberg. He did very well, going 6-4 with a 3.53 ERA and 86 strikeouts to 10 walks in 74 innings, allowing a .228 opponent average. He hit .291/.355/.388 as a part-time 1B/LF. He was among the Elitserien leaders in ERA (2nd to Jakob Claesson), opponent average (.228, first, .028 over Claesson), wins (tied for second, 7 behind Claesson) and strikeouts (1st, 5 more than Claesson).
