Biographical Information[edit]
Lucas Sérafin has played in France and Canada and for the French national team.
Sérafin was France's least effective hurler in the 2013 U18 European Championship (4 H, 4 BB, 8 R, 5 ER in 2 2/3 IP). [1] In 2014, he was 3-6 with a 2.58 ERA for the Savigny Lions. He led French Division I with four complete games, was 3rd in IP and tied for 3rd in losses. [2] In '15, he had a 3-5, 3.16 record for the Toulouse Tigers. He was 7th in ERA (between Matthieu Brelle-Andrade and Kevin Bosson) and tied for 6th in losses. [3]
He went to play in Canada in 2016 while attending college there. [4] In the 2016 European Championship, he was solid in a start against Spain (6 2/3 IP, 6 H, 2 BB, 4 K, 1 ER) but gave up three unearned runs in a loss to Leslie Nacar. Maximin Monbeig relieved. [5] He was France's best hurler in the 2017 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers with no earned runs in 3 2/3 IP. He relieved Jonathan Mottay with a 9-1 deficit in the 7th against host Panama and worked two shutout innings. He walked Carlos Ruiz but retired Ramón Castillo and Edmundo Sosa grounded into a twin killing. He allowed a Jorge Miranda double in the 8th, retired Eduardo Thomas Jr. and walked Luis Castillo but recovered to get both Jorge Bishop and Anthony Amaya. In the semifinals, he again faced Panama. He replaced Pierrick Lemestre with two on, a 6-4 deficit and one out in the 8th. Javy Guerra hit into a run-scoring force and Luis Castillo flew out. In the 9th, he retired Bishop and Thomas. Isaías Velásquez singled then Sosa flew out. Again, he had been a bright spot in a losing cause. [6]
The right-hander allowed one run in four innings in the 2017 European Championship U23. [7]
