Biographical Information[edit]
Anthony Amaya has been an outfielder in the minors and for the Panamanian national team.
Amaya hit .182/.307/.255 as a corner outfielder for the 2011 DSL Red Sox, though he did score 26 times in 47 games. With the same club in 2012, he improved his batting line to .232/.343/.328. He saw limited time for the 2013 DSl Red Sox (.192/.300/.231 in 9 G). That ended his 118-game pro career at .211/.326/.294 on offense, with 56 runs and 36 RBI. He fielded .965 in the outfield and played error-free ball in two games at 1B.
In the 2017 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers, he hit .154/.313/.154 with three runs and three walks in four games as Panama's left fielder. He tied Carlos Ruiz and Javy Guerra for the team lead in runs. [1] He produced at a .412/.522/.412 clip with two runs and five RBI in five games in the round-robin part of the 2017 Central American Games; he tied Andres Velasco for 7th in average and tied Gerald Chin for 5th in OBP. In the Gold Medal Game, against host Nicaragua, he hit 5th and went 0 for 4. [2]
