Biographical Information[edit]
Isaias Velasquez was signed by the Cleveland Indians as an undrafted free agent in 2004. He debuted as a pro with the DSL Indians in 2005, hitting .260/.358/.330. In 2006, he batted .292/.380/.345 for the same club, with 60 runs in 71 games and stole 25 bases in 32 tries.
Velasquez moved to the GCL Indians for 2007 and produced at a .277/.356/.327 line with 22 steals in 25 attempts. He led the Gulf Coast League in swipes. In 2008, the Panamanian hit .281/.368/.343 for the Mahoning Valley Scrappers and only stole 7 bases in 11 tries. He was used primarily as a second baseman.
