Biographical Information[edit]

Kenny Hernández has pitched as high as AAA and for the Panamanian national team.

He was signed by the Arizona Diamondbacks initially and made his pro debut with the 2016 AZL Diamondbacks, going 0-1 with a 1.93 ERA in six games. In 2017, he pitched for the AZL Diamondbacks (2-4, 4.03, 59 K in 58 IP) and Missoula Osprey (0 R in 2 IP). He tied Edward Escoboza for 4th in the Arizona League in strikeouts. With the '18 Hillsboro Hops, he was 6-3 with a 4.37 ERA and walked only 7 in 68 IP. He was 7th in the Northwest League with another 59 K, between Pearson McMahan and Faustino Carrera.

In 2019, he was 7-3 with 3 saves and a 1.88 ERA for the Kane County Cougars. The 2020 minor league season was wiped out by the COVID-19 pandemic. In the winter of 2020-2021, he was 0-2 with a 2.70 ERA for the Indios de Mayagüez. He split '21 between the Hops (3-3, 3.92 in 10 G), Amarillo Sod Poodles (2-2, 5.56 in 13 G) and the Reno Aces (5 R in 4 IP). He split 2022 between Hillsboro (2-2, 2.86 in 9 G) and Amarillo (4-4, 6.26 in 23 G). Moving to the St. Louis Cardinals system, he spent 2023 with the Springfield Cardinals; he was 7-2 with a 5.96 ERA. In the 2024 Caribbean Series, he allowed five hits and one run in 1 1/3 IP over two appearances for the Federales de Chiriquí.

He spent 2024 in the Mexican League, going 3-2 with a 4.50 ERA in 26 games between the Pericos de Puebla and Leones de Yucatán. He then was with Panama for the 2024 Premier 12. His first game was a fine one, relieving Dario Agrazal in the 4th with two on, two out and a 2-2 game with Venezuela. He got Alexi Amarista on a grounder to end the inning then allowed three hits over the next 2 2/3 innings, giving up no runs as Panama took a 4-2 lead. He got the win over Nivaldo Rodríguez, saved by Enrique Burgos Jr. It was Panama's historic first win in a Premier 12. His other game, he allowed two runs in two innings in a 4-3 win over Puerto Rico. [1]
