Biographical Information[edit]

Kang-hoon Woo has pitched in the KBO and for the South Korean national team.

Woo was drafted by the Lotte Giants in the 5th round of the 2021 KBO draft, and he stayed in the minors for the entire '21 season. He then missed the next season due to military service. Woo returned in June 2023, and he pitched 3 games with a 6.00 ERA with the big club. [1] He then made South Korea's young club for the 2023 Asian Championship. He relieved Heon-min Shin in the 3rd inning of their opener against host Taiwan when runners were on first and third. He forced Chi-Hung Liu to ground into a double play, and he retired Chien-Fu Liao to end the inning. Woo then gave up a double to Wen-Chieh Chen, and Namoh Iyang's single added a run. He surrendered another two singles to Hsiao-Yun Chen and Cheng-Fei Lin, but he retired Liu and Liao again to escape the jam; Byeong-heon Lee succeeded him. Relieving Lee against Japan, he gave up a double to Ren Onishi, walked Hisaya Nammoku and let Hiroki Nakagawa ground out; Hyeon-su Jeong took over. In the Bronze Medal Game, Woo pitched 2 shutout innings with 2 hits allowed and Korea beat the Philippines with a 7-0 score; they won Bronze. [2]

The Seongnam native was traded to the LG Twins for Ho-young Son after he pitched one game for Lotte in 2024, and he had a 3.09 ERA in 11 2/3 innings for the Twins in '24 season.
