Biographical Information[edit]
Ren Onishi played for JR East Japan Tohoku in the Industrial League after High School. [1] He represented Japan in the 2023 Asian Championship. Onishi debuted against Pakistan, going 1-for-1 with a RBI double against Amaan Khan in the 5th inning. He then went 0-for-2 with 2 RBI against Thailand. He was 1-for-4 in the next game with a double against Juan Paulo Macasaet of the Philippines, then went 1-for-4 against South Korea. In the Gold Medal Game, he was 0-for-1 and Japan beat Taiwan to win the Gold. He did not handle a chance as he played DH in all 5 contests. [2]
