He led the minors in hits and batting average the three consecutive years from 2017 to 2019, and led the league in steals from 2018 to 2019. However, Chen couldn't transfer his good batting to the major league. He hit .207/.213/.253 from 2017 to 2019. Chen finally broke out in 2020, hitting .285/.350/.374 with 8 steals. He batted .243/.329/.384 in 2021, and had a career year the next year. Chen recorded a .300/.349/.395 batting line with 12 steals in 2022. He ranked 8th in batting average, 3rd in RBI (62, 21 behind Li Lin) and 9th in hits (110). He also won the CPBL Gold Glove award as an outfielder. Chen slumped to .191/.273/.329 in 2023, and the new team TSG Hawks selected him in the expansion draft.
Chen was on Taiwan's roster for the 2023 Asian Championship.
