Biographical Information[edit]

Infielder Jose Peraza was signed by the Atlanta Braves and scout Rolando Petit in 2010 for $350,000. He began his professional career in 2011.

He hit .281/.346/.340 with 28 steals in 66 games for the DSL Braves his first year and followed that with a .296/.350/.374 line with 25 steals in 53 games split between the GCL Braves and Danville Braves in 2012. He entered 2013 as the #9 prospect in the Braves system per Baseball America. With the Rome Braves that year, he hit .288/.341/.371 with 64 steals in 114 games. He was a MiLB.com Organization All-Star that year. In 2014, he was the #6 prospect in the Braves system per BA. He hit .339/.364/.441 with 60 starts and 11 triples in 110 games between the Lynchburg Hillcats and Mississippi Braves to earn MiLB.com Organization All-Star and Mid/Post-Season All-Star honors that year. Entering 2015, he was ranked the 38th-best prospect in the game by MLB.com, #54 by Baseball America, #92 by Baseball Prospectus and #1 in the Braves system by BA. He played 96 games for the AAA Gwinnett Braves, hitting .294 with 3 homers and 37 RBIs, before being traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers on July 30th, along with Ps Bronson Arroyo, Luis Avilan, Jim Johnson and Alex Wood in return for IF Héctor Olivera Jr., P Paco Rodriguez and minor league P Zachary Bird.

A little over a week after being acquired by the Dodgers, he made his major league debut on August 10, 2015, starting at second base and hitting second against the Washington Nationals. He went 1-for-4 with a walk, his first big league hit being a triple off Gio Gonzalez. He was replacing Howie Kendrick, who had just been placed on the disabled list with a strained hamstring. He went 4 for 22 (.182) in 7 games for the Dodgers. On December 16th, he was the key man in the trade that brought Todd Frazier from the Cincinnati Reds to the Chicago White Sox. The Dodgers first acquired Frazier from Cincinnati in return for Jose and two other prospects - Scott Schebler and Brandon Dixon - and then flipped him to the Pale Hose for three other young players: Micah Johnson, Frankie Montas and Trayce Thompson. Peraza was the man the Reds really wanted, hence the need to involve the Dodgers in order to cut a deal.
