Biographical Information[edit]

Jonathan Reynoso peaked at AA and played for the Dominican national team.

He was signed by Cincinnati Reds scout Richard Jimenez in March 2010. [1] He had a rough pro debut, hitting .202/.272/.269 for the 2010 DSL Reds though he stole 9 bases in 9 tries. He batted .236/.340/.326 for the same team the next year, with 22 swipes while being caught only 5 times. He was 9th in the Reds chain in swipes. Coming stateside in 2012, he hit .311/.328/.411 for the AZL Reds with 37 runs in 50 games. He tied Randy Ortiz for the Arizona League lead in stolen bases, while tying Ryan LaMarre for 4th in the Reds system. He joined Alexis Rivera and Lewis Brinson as the AZL All-Star outfielders. [2]

Reynoso produced at a .238/.259/.306 clip for the 2013 Billings Mustangs. In his first full-season exposure, he hit .229/.297/.263 for the 2014 Dayton Dragons. He returned to that club in '15 and improved his batting line to .273/.316/.356 while he was 16-for-19 in steal attempts. Moving up to the Daytona Tortugas for 2016, he batted .285/.319/.321 and stole 31 bases in 42 attempts. He had a 19-game hitting streak, longest in the Florida State League that year. [3] He was second among Reds minor leaguers in steals, five behind Phil Ervin. He also was 5th in the FSL in that department and 8th in average (between Dustin DeMuth and Carlos Tocci). [4] He made his Dominican Winter League debut with the Estrellas Orientales, going 1 for 4 with a double, steal and two runs.

In 2017, he played for Daytona (.167/.188/.205 in 23 G), AZL Reds (.393/.469/.536 in 7 G, presumably on a rehab stint) and the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (.282/.342/.409 in 27 G). He hit .192/.323/.269 for the 2017-2018 Estrellas, serving as their #5 outfielder. He scored the Dominican Republic's only run in a 2018 Central American and Caribbean Games loss to Cuba. He produced at a .385/.600/.462 clip with seven walks in six games, a very high walk rate for someone whose pro career had shown low walk totals. He split DH with Ricardo Nanita and had five putouts with no errors in the outfield. He was 9th in the event in average (between Jhadiel Santamaria and Jeffrey Domínguez), tied Frederich Cepeda for 2nd in walks (one behind Carlos Benítez and as many as the entire Mexican team!) and led in OBP (.033 ahead of Gerald Chin). It was a bright spot for a last-place team. [5]

He played briefly for the 2019 Milwaukee Milkmen (2 for 10, BB, 2 RBI). He was in the Venezuelan League in 2019-2020, eking out a .189/.211/.270 line in eight games for the Águilas del Zulia.
